Nancy Lurie Sims Clowney, 92, of Basin Ave., Kannapolis, NC, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the home of her daughter.
She was born August 1, 1925 in Forsyth County to the late Willie Sims and the late Bertha Gray Sims.
Nancy was educated in the Chester County, SC School System and was formerly employed in Housekeeping. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served on the Choir, Kitchen Committee, Senior Dept of Bible Study and she was the oldest member of the church.
Services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 1311 E. First Street, Kannapolis, NC. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie James Clowney, Sr.; two daughters, Betty Clowney Faulkner, Dorothy Jean Clowney; one sister, Virgiree I. Johnson and one brother, James Edward Sims.
Those left to cherish fond memories include four daughters, Pastor Janie Ross, Bertha Parker, Lou Jean Clowney Chapman (Leonard) and Dorothy Lee Clowney all of Kannapolis; two sons, Jessie James Clowney, Jr., (Lorene) and Willie Lewis Clowney (Geraldine) both of Kannapolis; 29 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; 64 great great-grandchildren; two nieces, Willie Etta Kelley and Denise E. Johnson both of Philadelphia, PA and a host of cousins and friends.
