Betty Jean Sadler Horton, 87, of Long St., Kannapolis NC, passed away Thursday, April 25, at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis.
She was born July 17, 1931 in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late George Sadler and the late Sudie Johnson Sadler.
Betty was a graduate of the Mecklenburg School System and was formerly employed by Cannon Mills. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Voices of Zion Choir and was active in Vacation Bible School. Betty was a Political Activist, she worked with the Piedmont Peace Project and a member of the Order of Eastern Star..
Services will be held Wednesday, May 1, at First Baptist Church, 1311 E. 1st St. Kannapolis, NC. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM with funeral services at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J.A. Horton, son, Steven Horton and grandson, Larry.
Those left to cherish fond memories include two sons, Robert S. Horton (Imogene) of Baltimore, MD, Ethan S, Horton (Lawanda) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jay, Kyle, Atari, Robert Jr., Shana, Bertina, Arecia, Jomar, Walter, Shena; a host of great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rosa Sadler, Linda Colbert, Geneva Moore, Marjorie Hamilton; brothers-in-law Earl Horton, Paul Curry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
