Leona Mills Wilson, 92 of Charlie Walker Road, Kannapolis, NC passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019.
She was born June 6, 1927 in Lancaster County, SC to the late Harrison Mills and the late Viola Hinson Mills.
She spent her formative years in Kannapolis, NC and attended and graduated from G. W. Carver High School. She was formerly employed at Fieldcrest Cannon with Cabarrus County as a Certified Nursing Assistant and The Cabarrus County Boys and Girls Club.
Leona joined Marable Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church at the tender of 15. During her tenure, she attained Life Membership, and was active with the Pastor’s Aid, Floral Club, Missionary Board, Lay Council, Deaconess Board, and several choirs. She was recently honored for her longevity and service.
Services will be held Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Marable Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, Kannapolis, NC. Visitation will be 2:00 – 3:00 PM with funeral services at 3:00 PM.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, David Wilson; her daughter V. Renee Williams, grandson, “Kip” Wilson; and daughter-in-law, Diane Wilson.
Those left to cherish fond memories include daughter, Teresa Wilson, Durham, NC, two sons, David Wayne Wilson, Kannapolis and Geronald Aram Zayin El, Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren; Jameal Wilson (Miko). Las Vegas, NV; Vincent Williams (Martina), Leesburg, VA; Blake Williams, Durham, NC; and Braesha Wilson, Kannapolis, NC; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, lifelong friends and neighbors.
