Margie Ree Mathis White, 81, of Princeton Ave., Kannapolis, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 29, at her residence.
She was born August 29, 1937 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Handy Mathis and the late Bell Lott Mathis.
Margie was educated in the Cleveland County School System. She was formerly employed with Cannon Mills. Margie was a member of Bethel AME Zion Church in Kannapolis, NC where she served as a Deaconess and served on the Missionary Board, Usher Board, Kitchen Committee and Choir.
Services will be held Tuesday, December 4, at Bethel AME Zion Church, 2219 Dale Earnhardt Blvd, Kannapolis, NC. Visitation will be 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM with funeral services at 12:30. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Junior White; a son, Perry White, Sr.; a daughter, Annette Lee Mathis and six brothers, Charlie Mathis, George Mathis, Robert Mathis, Roy Mathis, John Mathis and Handy Mathis.
Those left to cherish fond memories include one son, Clifford White, Sr. (Regina) of Kannapolis; two daughters, Gloria White and Frances W. Brown (Hamp, Sr.) both of Kannapolis; one daughter in-law, Phyllis White of Greensboro, NC; 10 grandchildren, Mechelle White, Gregory White, Hamp Devon Brown, Jr., Montrel Mathis, Chris Mathis, Sonya Renee White, Clifford White, Jr., Kendale M. White, Perry White, Jr. and Meka White; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Devon Mathis of New York; one sister, Essie Bell Anthony of Kannapolis; special nieces and nephews, Michael Mathis, Barbara Jo Mathis, Geeplay Morris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
