Obituary

Bobby Ray Mahatha, 87, of Kingston Drive, Kannapolis, NC passed away on Sunday, December 27, at his residence.  He was born in Mecklenburg County on May 30, 1933 to the late William Mahatha and the late Grace Lipscomb.

Ray was educated in the Kannapolis Schools and a 1954 graduate of G. W. Carver High  School.  He was formerly employed by Cannon Mills and retired from Terry Products.  Ray was a member of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 2, at First Baptist Church, 1311 E. First Street, Kannapolis, NC.  Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM with funeral services at 12:00.  Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Utha Richardson Mahatha

Those left to cherish his memory includes two sons, Ronald Mahatha of Kannapolis, Donald Mahatha of Salisbury; two daughters, Terpetha Mahatha of the home, Yolanda Massey (Parnell) of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Tashina Mahatha, Neresha Mahatha, Latisha Mims and Chaserae Mahatha; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Etta Broome of Charlotte, Willene Withers of Brooklyn, NY; one brother, Charles Gray of Charlotte; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
