Obituary

Dr. Helen Simpson Sheelor, 88, of Beaumont Avenue, Kannapolis, NC, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at her residence.  She was born March 11, 1933 in Kershaw County, SC to the late Melvin Simpson and the late Jessie Mae Mingo Wright.

Helen was educated in the Kannapolis City and Kershaw County Schools and was a graduate of G. W. Carver High School.  She attended Barber Scotia College and later received a Doctorate in Ministry degree.  Helen was formerly employed with the Kannapolis City Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher.

Services will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at First Baptist Church 1311 E. 1st St., Kannapolis, NC.  Visitation will be 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM; with funeral services at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie “Pee Wee” Sheelor and grandson, Brionn Sheelor.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, three sons, Greg Sheelor, Glenn Sheelor (Sharon Chambers) both of Kannapolis, NC, Vernon Sheelor (Jacquelyn) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Curtis Russell, William Andrew Lloyd, Greg Sheelor, Jr, TaShena Shipp, Cassandra Trent, Takera Sheelor all of Kannapolis; seven great-grandchildren; special great granddaughter, Malaysia Sheelor; godson, George “Chuck” Mack of Durham, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Due to Covid-19 Mask must be worn to all services.
