Helen Glenda Howie Byers, 87, of Camden Ct., NW, Concord. NC passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 19 at her residence.
Helen was born February 20, 1933 in Cabarrus County to the late Lester Howie and the late Essie Iola Walker Howie.
She was educated in the Cabarrus County School Systems and was a graduate of Logan High School. She was formerly employed with Kings County Hospital. Helen was a member of Gilmore Chapel AME Zion Church where she formerly served on the Missionary Board, she sang on the Choir and was a Greeter.
Services will be held on Friday, June 26 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held 12:00 – 1:00 PM with funeral services at 1:00. Burial will follow at Rutherford Memorial Cemetery
Those she leaves to cherish her loving memory include her brother, Clyde Buford Howie (Mildred) of Philadelphia, PA; four nephews, Donald Wayne Howie (Barbara) of New York, Leslie Anderson (Charmaine) of Ft. Washington, MD, Anthony Barnette (Cynthia) of Raleigh, NC and Johnathan Howie (Yolanda) of Baltimore, MD; one niece, Regina Anderson Grigsby of Washington, DC; two great-nieces, Lisa Mobley Blake (William) of Richmond, VA and Courtney Grigsby of Washington, DC and a host of devoted friends.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association or The Purple Heart Foundation.
