Jessie James Clowney, Jr.

Jessie James Clowney, Jr., 81, of Cripple Creek Road, Kannapolis, NC departed this earthly life on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at his residence.

He was born January 20, 1945, in Cabarrus County to the late Jessie James Clowney, Sr., and the late Nancy L. Sims Clowney.

Jessie was educated in the Cabarrus County School Systems and was a graduate of RCCC and Shaw University. He was formerly employed with Cabarrus County Schools.

Jessie was a member of Concord Church of Christ.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 16th, 2026, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel, 923 Indiana Street, Kannapolis, NC from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Services will be on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Kannapolis Church of Christ, 2315 Concord Lake Road, Kannapolis, NC at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Williams, and a sister, Betty Faulkner.

Cherishing his loving memory are his wife, Lorene B. Clowney of the home; two sons, Christopher Covington and Garland Holland both of Concord, NC; four daughters, Wanda D. Clowney of Kannapolis, NC, Dwana Bridges of Landis, NC, Asha Bennett of the home and Linda Allison of Kannapolis, NC; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Willie Lewis Clowney (Geraldine) of Kannapolis, NC; four sisters, Bertha Parker, Lou Jean Chapman (Leonard), Dorothy Clowney all of Kannapolis, NC and Janie Patterson of Landis and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
