Jonathan Allison Obituary

Jonathan Allison, 63 years old of Kannapolis, North Carolina departed this earthly life on Friday, April 19, 2024 after a brief illness at Atrium Health's Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He and his loving wife Priscilla lived in their home filled with laughter and love on  Franklin Avenue, Kannapolis. 

He was born on July 21, 1960 in Pensacola, Florida where he spent several of his early years.  His loving parents, Guerlean Weathers Allison and the late Thomas Edward Allison nurtured him and proudly watched him grow into his adulthood in his beloved hometown of Kannapolis. 

Jonathan received his formal education in the public schools of Kannapolis and was a 1978 graduate of A. L. Brown High School. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church since his childhood and served on the Usher Board as a youth, attended Sunday School and was very active in the life of the church throughout his entire life and continued to serve in  various capacities up until his departure including the multimedia ministry and assisted with oversight of the BBC Cemetery.

It is of note that Johnathan  always loved music and was a skilled musician (drums and keyboard)  and was a featured soloist in the A.L. Brown High School chorus. Additionally, for many years he was a tenor with the Gospel Players Quartet who's falsetto lead vocals were widely renowned and requested throughout the region. 

Jonathan was an extremely hard worker and from his early teens into adulthood he was employed by Cannon Mills Company and was a highly skilled  painter initially trained under the direction of his father. At the time of his transition;  he was employed with Allied Universal Security and the proprietor of Jonathan's Painting Service.

Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, April  27, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church, 2474 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents, several aunts, uncles, cousins and younger brother, Ray A. Allison.

Those left to cherish fond memories include his wife, Priscilla M. Allison and a special niece, Amber "Precious" of the home; daughter, Krenishia Milligan (James) of Concord, NC; son, Jeremy Allison (Tameisha) of Kannapolis, NC; five grandchildren, James, Elijah, Janaisa, Jaylen, and Jordan, his mother Guerlean Allison of Kannapolis, NC; two brothers, Roderick Allison (Kimberly) of Creedmoor, NC; and Darrell Allison (La Nica) of Fayetteville, NC; sisters Sharon Allison-Ottey, MD  (fiancée Jerome) of Oxon Hill, MD.; and Tonya Allison of Houston TX; brothers-in law, Robert Maddox (Amanda) of Concord, NC and Ricky Maddox of Valdosta, GA; sister-in law, Robin Johnson (Curtis) Bellevue, NE. Jonathan was further blessed with several aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Due to Covid-19, masks are appreciated if worn in all services.
