Katie Irene (Johnson) Russell, 92 of Norland Ave., Kannapolis, NC, departed this earthly life on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Atrium Health-Cabarrus, Concord, NC.

She was born on October 8, 1933, in Cabarrus County to the late Mary Johnson.

Kattie received her education in the Kannapolis City School System and was  formerly employed with  Cannon Mills.

Katie was a member of Bethpage United Presbyterian Church where she served on the Kitchen Committee.

Services will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Bethpage United Presbyterian Church, 8701 Mooresville Road, Concord, NC. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, with funeral services at 1:00 PM.  The burial will follow at the church cemetery.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Phyllis Rucker, and Savonni Russell.

Katie leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Harry Lec Russell, Jr. (Terry) of Spencer, NC; one daughter, Evelyn Dixon of Kannapolis, NC; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren;  four sisters, Juanita Howie and Faye McKnight both of Kannapolis, NC, Regina McLaughlin of Charlotte, NC, Overa Brown of Davidson, NC; special niece, Stacey Johnson; special nephew, Robbie Brown; and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
