Lester “Chip” Earl Jones, Jr., 47 of Bedlington Dr. NW Charlotte, NC departed this earthly life on Monday, June 1, 2026, at his residence.

He was born March 26, 1979, in Jackson, MS to Lester Earl Jones, and the late Patricia Ann (Harrison) Jones. 

Lester was educated in the Lowndes County Public School System of Columbus, MS. He was a graduate of Columbus High School and Mississippi State University. Lester was currently employed with AT&T.

His family joined New Life Baptist Church of Concord, NC by Christian experience. Lester was also an active father of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.

Services will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at New Life Baptist Church, 1281 Biscayne Drive, Concord, NC 28023, visitation from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM with funeral service at 3:00 PM.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Michael V. Jones.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, Melissa Walton-Jones of the home;  one son, Darion T. Jones of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Dawsonne G.I. Jones of the home;  his father, Lester Earl Jones of Columbus, MS; two brothers, Christopher Jones (Shanta) of Kansas City, MO and Joseph Jones of Dallas, TX; four sisters, LesChanda “Chanda Jones” Burns (Rocky) of Kansas City, MO, Tasha Jones Swoope (Kenny) of Columbus, MS, Dr. LaKeisha “Kei” Jones, and Brianna Jones of Bessemer, AL, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
