Mary Ellen Johnson Doby, 79, of Plymouth St. Kannapolis, NC passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021 in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Lancaster, SC on September 15, 1941 to the late Abraham Johnson and the late Ellaree Dixon Johnson.
Mary was educated at G.W. Carver School; and received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Central Piedmont Community College.
Mary was the founding Pastor of Emmanuel Tabernacle of Danville, VA and Kannapolis, NC. She was a member of the Christ Gospel Church in Concord, NC
Services will be held on Saturday, July 10, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel Visitation will be 12:00 - 1:00 PM with funeral services at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three children, Renita Roseboro, Pierre Ondre Weaks and Patricia Ramsey.
Those left to cherish her memory includes, her husband, Gregory Doby of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Anna M. Johnson of Kannapolis, NC, Charlene W. Allison (Frank) of Charlotte, NC; 17 grandchildren; a host great-grandchildren; four sisters, Nancy Everett, Joyce Pendergrass both of Charlotte, NC, Loyce Johnson of Washington DC, Emma J. Hall of Bland County, VA; one brother, Abraham Johnson of Emporia, VA; nephew reared in the home, Cecil Hall of Concord; son-in-law, John Shelton Roseboro of Huntersville, NC; daughter-in-law, Charlene Weaks of Clearwater, FL; special sister, Cleo Massey of Kannapolis, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
