Mary Frances Weathers Leach was born on March 14, 1929, in China Grove, NC to the late Leander and Mabel Harris Weathers.
She walked into the arms of Christ on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Glen A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC.
Mary was a graduate of Price High School, attended Barber Scotia College and graduated from Salisbury Business College.
Mary worked as an insurance agent for Charlotte Liberty Mutual, for over 25 years. Where she was top ten in Sales repeatedly and was awarded several vacations. After retirement, Mary went to work in the Salisbury/Rowan County School System, as a Substitute Teacher. While working as a Substitute Teacher, Mary felt that she knew what children needed, and helped establish a neighborhood tutoring program.
Mary was also a life long member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she served as a Deaconess, a Missionary, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, sang in the Choir, and established & presided over the Pastor’s Aid for over 20 years.
Mary enjoyed community activities, as well and was a member of the Westside Community Club where she participated in numerous community projects. Mary made friends and let her light shine everywhere she went, she was always lending a helping hand no matter what the cause and she would do it again and again. Mary was unselfish in her deeds.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Deacon Walter Leach; her parents and two brothers, Johnnie Weathers and Fred Weathers.
Mary will be deeply missed, left to cherish her memory are, a daughter, Adriane Dolores Leach of the home; two sisters-in-laws, Josephine Leach of Salisbury, NC and Margaret “Cookie” Samuels (Adelanto) of California and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 15, at Clark Funeral Home from 1:00 – 5:00 PM. 923 Indiana St., Kannapolis, NC 28083. Services will be held on Saturday, January 16 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM.
Due to Covid-19 Mask must be worn to all services.
