William Arthur Farris, Sr. 88, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, was born on July 23, 1937, in Lowell, North Carolina. He was the beloved husband of the late Queen Farris. Mr. Farris peacefully transitioned on March 25 2026, at 3:34 p.m., surrounded by his loving family at his bedside.
A man of deep faith and devotion, Deacon Farris was a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church, where he served with dedication and humility. His life reflected an unwavering commitment to God, his family, and his community.
William was a proud graduate of Lowell High School in Gaston County, North Carolina. He began his career as a driver with Greyhound Bus, where he was known for his professionalism and kindness. He later dedicated more than 30 years of service to Fieldcrest Cannon, demonstrating a strong work ethic and reliability. After his tenure there, he returned to Greyhound Bus, continuing to exemplify excellence and care in his work.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, William served as a Grand Patron of the Calvary Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, where he exemplified leadership, service, and a commitment to uplifting others.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted children: daughters Sonya Ladda (Roger), Tracy Hilton (Marvin), Tommie Ann Jordan, and Lisa Lyons (Ricky); and sons Jesse James Farris (Karen), Robert Neal, Sr., David Ray Farris, and Timothy Jordan (Sylvia).
He is also survived by his sister, Betty Jordan; sisters-in-law Lila Partee, and Yvonne Harper; brothers-in-law Nathaniel Jordan (Sissy), Cecil Jordan (Ann), and Henry Jordan. > > William was preceded in death by his loving wife, Queen Farris; daughters Deborah Farris and Gloria Farris Martin; sons Ricky Farris, Tony Leak, Michael Blakeney, and William Farris Jr.; sister Shirley Wilson Peek; and grandchildren Ashley Rodgers-Jordan, Angel Farris, and Brandina Johnson.
He also leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love through his 72 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 33 great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Special recognition is given to his close friends and extended family, Billy “Coot” Reid, Deacon Sifford, and Peter O., whose companionship and support meant so much throughout his life.
William Arthur Farris will be remembered for his strength, faith, wisdom, and the love he shared so freely with all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and all whose lives he touched.
Service Information: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove, North Carolina.
